September 3-26, 2026

This September, Studio Kroner is pleased to present Soft Edges, a new exhibition curated by artist and curator Devan Horton that explores the enduring relevance of craft in contemporary art.

Bringing together six regional women artists working across fiber, ceramics, basketry, textiles, broom-making, embroidery, and other material-based practices, Soft Edges celebrates artistic practices rooted in material knowledge, sustainability, and a deep connection to place. Through processes that are patient, tactile, and intentional, these artists transform natural and reclaimed materials into works that speak to memory, ecology, labor, and the relationships between people and the environments they inhabit.

Rather than looking to tradition as something fixed, Soft Edges reveals it as a living source of innovation. Across a range of media, the exhibition demonstrates how generations of knowledge continue to inspire new forms of artistic expression, inviting viewers to consider the expressive possibilities found in the handmade.

As curator Devan Horton observes:

"Craft is not simply a tradition to preserve, but a vital and evolving language for contemporary artistic expression."

Featured artists include: Devan Horton, Sara Torgison, Erica Fitzgerald, Ciara LeRoy, Talcon Quinn, and Celeste Malvar-Stewart—each bringing a distinct perspective while sharing a commitment to thoughtful making and the expressive potential of material.
