Studio Kroner is honored to once again be an official participating venue of the 2026 FotoFocus Biennial: The Long View. This October, we will present Beneath All Distance, a new exhibition by Cincinnati artist Erika NJ Allen.
This marks Studio Kroner’s third participation in the FotoFocus Biennial, and we’re especially excited to introduce Allen’s work to our gallery audience through an exhibition that brings together experimental photography, ceramics, and moving image.

Beneath All Distance
Working exclusively with pinhole and analog film photography, Allen documents landscapes shaped across immense spans of geological time—places whose physical features carry visible traces of history, endurance, transformation, and change.
In Beneath All Distance, these photographs enter into conversation with ceramic surfaces and moving image. Ancient landscapes and durable materials become a way of contemplating something much larger: our own place within a continuum of time that extends far beyond the scale of an individual human life.
The exhibition speaks directly to this year’s FotoFocus theme, The Long View. Through the deliberate slowness of analog photography, the physicality of ceramics, and her attention to landscapes formed over millennia, Allen invites us to reconsider ideas of time, scale, memory, and endurance.
About Erika NJ Allen
Born in Guatemala, Erika NJ Allen is a Cincinnati-based artist working across photography and ceramics. A first-generation college graduate, she earned her BFA in Photography from the Art Academy of Cincinnati and her MFA in Ceramics from Cranbrook Academy of Art.
Her multidisciplinary practice connects personal experience with broader questions surrounding consumption, labor, migration, cultural history, and resilience. Allen’s work has received national recognition, including the 2024 NCECA Emerging Artist Award and the 21c Cincinnati Artadia Award, and she has participated in residencies including the Archie Bray Foundation for the Ceramic Arts.
We’ll be sharing much more about Erika, her work, and the ideas behind Beneath All Distance as we approach the exhibition. For now, save the dates and plan to join us this October.

Beneath All Distance is presented as part of the 2026 FotoFocus Biennial: The Long View. Now in its eighth iteration, the Biennial brings more than 70 exhibitions to museums, galleries, universities, and public spaces throughout Greater Cincinnati, Dayton, Columbus, and Northern Kentucky in October 2026.
