Studio Kroner, Cincinnati's home for fine art and design, is excited to announce that Ludlow, Kentucky identical twin brothers and artists Jeff & John Winkle will be our next featured artists, with their first solo gallery show, DIVIDED BY/TWO:
The work is inspired by memories and experiences of life in a small town and is meant to remind us of humanity, humility, common sense, simpler times, faith, aspirations, hard work, heart & hope. Their stories, however, are only half the story. They would love you to fill in your own stories and interpretations.
“It’s difficult to distill where our inspiration and influence comes from because there is a wide variety of factors, both visually and emotionally, in play at all times. I know I’m subconsciously influenced by bits and pieces of a multitude of artists, ranging from the Renaissance to the Impressionists to Pop Art. Then, mix in my mentor professor in college, Jeff’s graphic design expertise, some other favorite artists on social media and 23 years of owning a landscape business and not painting, and my brain somehow sorts through those emotions and visuals and this is just what comes out.” —John Winkle
"The first time I saw a painting by the Winkle brothers it stopped me dead in my tracks… bold graphical mark-making and composition, absolutely fresh and unique. The paint seemed to burst off the canvas. I was pulled in by the regional flavor, the abstraction, the nods to painters like Hockney, Diebenkorn, and Thiebaud,” says Paul Kroner, artist and owner of Studio Kroner. "I am honored and excited to host their first solo gallery show.”
Studio Kroner is artist/designer Paul Kroner's creative hub, and a space for other artists to showcase their work; for the communal experiences of book readings, concerts; and private events. Studio Kroner is located at 130 West Court Street.
