Paul Kroner, Lead Curator

Paul Kroner is the founder and owner of Studio Kroner. Located in downtown Cincinnati’s emerging Mid-City district, our independent creative organization has consistently fulfilled Paul's mission of using art as a conduit for discussing topics of global significance.

Since opening in April 2021, Studio Kroner has hosted numerous exhibits and themed shows, drawing hundreds of visitors to events like “ALL ELSE PALES,” “TRASH TALK,” and “YES, BUT IS IT ART?” which was recognized as by CityBeat magazine as the 2nd best gallery exhibit in Cincinnati for 2023. These successful endeavors underscore our commitment to fostering dialogue and community engagement through art.

Paul is a native Cincinnatian and a graduate of the University of Cincinnati's Graphic Design program (DAAP). He is also a fine artist working in sculpture, painting, animation, illustration, and photography. You can view his work and learn more about him at paulkroner,com

Devan Horton
Eco Artist And Activist, Bellevue, KY

Devan Horton is an eco-conscious artist from Bellevue, KY, who uses her artwork to raise awareness about environmental issues. With a BFA in painting from Northern Kentucky University, her work has been showcased in various galleries.

Horton draws inspiration from local parks like Mount Airy and Ault Park, focusing on themes of nature and its destruction by human activity. Her series, including "Swarm" and "Penchant," explore concepts like invasive species and the impact of waste on ecosystems.

In November 2022, she exhibited at Studio Kroner in Cincinnati with "Trash Talk," which featured her "Penchant" series. This show combined art and environmental activism, addressing the accumulation of trash in natural spaces. Horton's work encourages viewers to reflect on their relationship with nature and the consequences of human actions.

Presenting Organizations for All Else Pales 2:

Office of Environment & Sustainability

Studio Kroner is pleased to welcome back the Office of Environment & Sustainability (OES) for the City of Cincinnati as a presenter for All Else Pales 2. The mission of the OES is to enhance the environmental health of the city by promoting sustainable practices and policies. Director Oliver Kroner's presentation on Climate Action in Cincinnati was one of the highlights of our inaugural All Else Pales in 2022. In his role, Oliver focuses on climate science and urban policy, including energy, transportation, waste, and food systems. He leads the collaboration of government and community partners to advance and track the sustainability, equity, and resilience strategies of the Green Cincinnati Plan.

PEWS aims to enhance the relationship between science and the public by fostering meaningful connections between the university, community partners, and the public. PEWS will prenta panel discussion to be moderated by Peter Crawley, a seasoned Environmental Sustainability Consultant, Advocate and Educator.

Research in Sensing (IRiS) at the University of Cincinnati

Studio Kroner welcomes The “IRiS Alloy Series” coordinated by the Institute for Research in
Sensing (IRiS) at the University of Cincinnati, brings diverse perspectives to emerging topics
in sensing and perception, engaging the Cincinnati community. This upcoming Alloy event will focus on sustainability and climate concerns.

Exhibition Overview

At Studio Kroner, we believe that art has the power to ignite conversations, inspire change, and bring communities together. In this spirit, we are excited to introduce All Else Pales 2—an art exhibition and community initiative on sustainability, environmental justice, and climate change.

All Else Pales 2 will feature five talented artists whose thought-provoking installations explore nature, ecology, and climate change. It will also feature poets, playwrights and reformers, environmental scientists and advocates in panel discussions that are designed to engage attendees emotionally and intellectually, to inspire reflection, and to motivate action toward environmental stewardship.

Through All Else Pales 2 we aim to engage the community in meaningful dialogue around climate change and environmental issues. As our planet continues to warm and the evidence for climate change grows, All Else Pales 2 will serve as a catalyst for awareness, education, and action. Studio Kroner is committed to using this platform to inform, inspire, and empower change.

Julia Orquera Bianco

Interdisciplinary Artist and Ecologist, Cincinnati, OH

Julia Orquera Bianco was born in Argentina and lived in Mexico before moving to the United States. She earned a BFA in Argentina, an MFA from USC, and a Certificate in Sustainability from UCLA, and a Permaculture Design Certificate at the Cincinnati Permaculture Institute. Her work interrogates constructs from Modern Western Culture, collective memory, and the experience of migration. Using her family legacy of labor, craft, music, and storytelling, Bianco builds knowledge and understanding of self, others, and place. Her work has been showcased internationally.

Albertus Gorman

Artist/Educator Louisville, KY

Albertus Gorman’s profound affinity for the natural world serves as a cornerstone, profoundly influencing his artistic expressions. In an era characterized by rampant environmental degradation, he endeavors to underscore humanity’s intrinsic connection to the physical environment. Through the utilization of material culture sourced from Falls of the Ohio State Park, he initiates dialogues concerning humanity’s intricate relationship with nature.

Devan Horton is a Northern Kentucky artist who creates paintings that call attention to the ways in which humans have corrupted nature. Activism, collectiveness, and a love of the natural world have remained themes in Devan’s work since college. Recently, she has launched a series of experiments with sustainable, non-toxic paints, pigments, and regenerative canvas materials

John Sabraw

Professor Of Art, Ohio University, Artist And Activist, Atehns, OH

Sabraw is a Professor of Art at Ohio University where he chairs the Painting + Drawing program, and Board Advisor at Scribble Art Workshop in New York. An activist and environmentalist, Sabraw’s paintings, drawings and collaborative installations are produced in an eco conscious manner, and he continually works toward a fully sustainable practice. One of his current collaborations involves creating paint and paintings from iron oxide extracted in the process of remediating polluted streams.

Kids Act Out!

Youth Theater Education, Cincinnati, OH

Kids Act Out!, directed by Carol Brammer at the Liberty Theatre in Cincinnati, is an arts education program that engages young performers in theatre. It focuses on developing skills in acting, improvisation, and performance techniques, fostering creativity and confidence in participants. Under Brammer's guidance, children enhance their artistic abilities while learning teamwork and self-expression in a supportive environment. Kids Act Out! is a vital platform for nurturing the next generation of artists in Cincinnati, highlighting the importance of arts education in personal growth.

Elaine Olund

Eco-Poet and artist, Cincinnati, OH

Poet Elaine Olund will read from her new book of eco poems, along with curating an anthology of poems from local, regional, and national poets. She will host an evening of poetry in the gallery featuring participating poets, and will oversee the design and printing of an anthology of poems for the show. She will also host a Climate meditation and creative writing workshop in the gallery.

Mary Kroner

Playwright and Performer, Cincinnati, OH

Mary Kroner is local playwright in performer. She wrote and performed her one-person show, “X Marks The Spot," for our initial "All Else Pales" exhibition, and will perform a new play created for this show.
